Altering a Bridesmaid dress that is too small

bridesmaid dress 1These views are before the dress was altered, showing what the dress should have looked like. However it was much to small for the client wearing it. The zipper would not zipper at all. Also the neck line was too high, cutting into the collar bones.

In order to solve the problem with the high neck line I added several inches in the shoulder seam on either side as shown below.

Thankfully the side seams had a large amount of seam allowance. Therefore with the allowance on the zipper seam and side seams I had just enough to let the dress out. When it was finished it fit perfectly!
